It was an honor for Janine and I to be official photographers of this year’s Maratona dles Dolomites bike race in the Italian Dolomites. Likely the world’s largest bike race.
We can now confirm;
1. Shooting bike racing from a motorbike is not easy. Good job Graham Watson!
2. Shooting bike racing from a helicopter is, while quite fun, not easy either.
That said, we are happy with the results and had a great experience. Thanks to the Maratona organisation for extending to us every means of support. And thanks to the 9000 riders, we always need models.

Hi Dan
I have recently discovered your blog and website and love your images, some of the best sports images i have ever seen not to mention the stunning landscapes featured in the images. I too am a photographer (although amateur) and a cyclist (road and mountain biking).
I just noticed your comment about the Maratona dles Dolomites – likely being the worlds largest bike race – actually this honour goes to the Cape Argus Cycle Tour (109Km) – held in March every year in Cape Town, South Africa. The Argus is widely known as the worlds largest timed cycle race with every participant being timed. The Argus numbers 30 000 to 35 000 cyclists competing on the second sunday of March every year).
Keep up the good work – stunning images!!!
