I just noticed your comment about the Maratona dles Dolomites - likely being the worlds largest bike race - actually this honour goes to the Cape Argus Cycle Tour (109Km) - held in March every year in Cape Town, South Africa. The Argus is widely known as the worlds largest timed cycle race with every participant being timed. The Argus numbers 30 000 to 35 000 cyclists competing on the second sunday of March every year).
