Giro d’Italia Photography

Today we were fortunate enough to walk out our door and photograph the finish of this year’s toughest stage of the Giro d’Italia, or at least the most tortuous. Cycling is my sport, though I swore to never photograph it as I don’t want to mix work with my escape sport, but how can I resist when the Giro comes to town each year?

Janine and I shot from a few locations along the top part of the course as well as the finish before jumping in a tram and descending to our house. Once home, we hit the download from Film Card in Lightroom, edited, processed and got them out in the market. Ta-da! Modern living. Love it.

We invite you to head over to DolomiteSport for our Mountain Sport Photos; Gear Reviews, Trip Reports, Stories and the writings of our many guest contributors.

Maratona dles Dolomites Photos

20090704-_MG_0495

20090705-_X1W618020090706-photoIt was an honor for Janine and I to be official photographers of this year’s Maratona dles Dolomites bike race in the Italian Dolomites. Likely the world’s largest bike race.

We can now confirm;

1. Shooting bike racing from a motorbike is not easy. Good job Graham Watson!

2. Shooting bike racing from a helicopter is, while quite fun, not easy either.

That said, we are happy with the results and had a great experience. Thanks to the Maratona organisation for extending to us every means of support. And thanks to the 9000 riders, we always need models.

Complete info with photo gallery is over at DolomiteSport.

Much to do

Yes, a week away from the computer. It was along for the ride, but it sat neglected of attention in favor of the bike, good meals and lots of tourist time in Tuscany.

This week I have some catching up to do.

On deck:

1. How to wear a thong when forced to do so in front of a group of women

2. The Patitucci training camp, Tuscany 2009

3. Back to work: More skiing? Come on…

4. Garmin Products Judgement: Excellent

Stay tuned this week. Off to unpack.
