At Annapurna Basecamp, Nepalese friends performed a sacred puja to bless the team and pray for the safety of everyone.
During an Advance Basecamp supply run, Ueli and I arrived in snowy weather to set up the tents and deliver gear.
Ueli Steck where we encountered him, exhausted, on the glacier at the base of the South Face of Annapurna.
Ueli Steck returned to Nepal and the Annapurna south face in 2013 which he climbed solo, without oxygen, in one 28 hour alpine push, via a new route. The trip was his third attempt to climb the 8000 meter peak. Ueli back in advance basecamp finally gets to take his boots off and get comfortable.

Ueli Steck Annapurna
In 2013, in the Nepal Himalaya, Ueli Steck solo’d the South Face of the 8091 meter Annapurna in 28 hours. As close friends of Ueli’s, we were along to document the remarkable ascent which would later earn the Piolet d’Or honor.
